Rita A. Rudy 1941-2017
YOUNGSTOWN — Rita Ann Rudy, 76, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, went home peacefully to be in the loving arms of our Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017.
Rita was born Feb. 24, 1941, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Kral Rudy.
She was a 1958 graduate of East High School in Youngstown. She married Stephen “John” Saupp in 1959, and together raised their three daughters, which included making picnic lunches several times a week to take to the Mill Creek Park during the summer to enjoy family time. She had a special love for and enjoyed the company of her furry, four-legged friends, Buddy and Pal-Sue.
She had a love of nature, she enjoyed reading and had a passion for distributing educational materials for World Book Encyclopedia Company for over 20 years. She loved World Book so much that she moved to the Dayton area in 1985, where she accepted the role of regional manager; she remained in Dayton for 25 years.
Survivors include her daughters, Lori Brothers of Columbiana, Sharyn (Mark) Hanna of California and Chrissie (David) Johnson of Howland; granddaughters, Corinne Brothers of California and Claire Brothers of Columbus; and a sister, Mary Patricia (Bernard) Kachmer of Struthers.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Theresa (Alexander) Sepesy and Helen Rudy.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at the Lane Funeral Home, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, Ohio 44515. A luncheon will immediately follow the service Saturda at Marino’s Italian Cafe, 5423 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, where family and friends are encouraged to attend. Burial has taken place at the Brunstetter Cemetery in Austintown.
Memorials may be made, in Rita’s memory, to the Five Rivers MetroParks Foundation in Dayton, Ohio. Donations are tax-deductable gifts that are used to support programs and special projects within the park system that Rita loved so very much.
