Mary Lou Leopardi 1931-2018

HOWLAND — Mary Lou Leopardi, 86, passed away at her home on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with heart disease.

She was born, Oct. 30, 1931, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Judge James A. and Elizabeth Nagy Ravella.

Mary Lou was a 1950 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and attended Seton Hill College, majoring in primary education. She also worked as a clerk for the Warren Municipal Court, where she met her husband, Atty. John A. Leopardi. They were married on Aug. 16, 1958, and shared 47 years of marriage before his passing on Dec. 29, 2005.

Mary Lou set aside her career to devote her life to her family. She cherished and embraced every moment, especially time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed planting flowers, socializing, cooking and sharing a meal with all. She was always so kind and caring and brought a smile to whomever she met.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament and St. Mary Church and was of the Catholic faith.

She will be deeply missed by her children, James A. Leopardi of Hudson, Mary (Alfred) Rossi II of Warren and Atty. Patty (Duane) Knepp of Warren; six grandchildren, James (Amy) Leopardi, John Leopardi, Alfred (Liz) Rossi III, Nicole (Justin) Alexander, Orion Knepp and Aarika (Brian) Sheehan; and four great-grandchildren, Elliott Rossi, Pierce Rossi, America Sheehan and Maverik Sheehan, with whom she shared her birthday.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Sandy Leopardi.

A Mass of Christian burial will be noon Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at St. Mary Church, 232 Seneca St., Warren, Ohio 44481, where family and friends may call 10:30 a.m. until the noon service with the Rev. Thomas Eisweirth officiating. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in Mary Lou’s name, to Hospice of the Valley, 5000 E. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44484, St. Mary’s Building Fund or Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.

Arrangements are being handled by the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
