James D. Click 1940-2018

LEAVITTSBURG — James David Click, 77, of Leavittsburg, died Thursday evening, Jan. 18, 2018, at his home.

He was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Charleston, W.Va., the son of the late William Kenneth and Mary Jewell Easterling Click.

Jim was a 1959 graduate of Braceville High School.

He retired in 2002 as a general foreman at U.S. Gypsum / Unimast after 42 years of service. He owned a charter boat service from 1990 to 2016 on Lake Erie called Jimmy Jig Charters, operating out of Port Clinton. Captain Jimmy’s boat was called “Taylor Made.”

Jim loved fishing, making his own fishing lures, and enjoyed mechanical work. He enjoyed working on cars and tinkering. Jim was a member of the Port Clinton Moose Lodge. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State fan.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances Marie Haines Click, whom he married June 10, 1961; one daughter, Kathy M. Cooper of Newton Falls; two sons, David A. (Ragene) Click of Leavittsburg and Jeff A. (Jennifer) Click of Galion; eight grandchildren, Corbin (Kristy) Hartill, Trevor Hartill, Jeffrey (Lydia) Click, Andrew Click, Natalie and Mitchell Elrod, Elizabeth (Zack) Sutliff and Taylor (William) Romigh; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Furrie of Vienna and Helen Storey of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and three brothers, Dallas of Southington, Taylor of Farmington and Jacob “JD” Click of Texas.

Three brothers, Roy, Philip and Bradford Click, all preceded him in death.

The funeral service will be noon Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at Braceville Christian Church, with the Pastor Jon D. Pratt officiating. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren and also one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Braceville Township Cemetery.
