Annie L. Lathan 1932-2017

WARREN — Annie Lillian Hamilton Lathan, 85, of 987 Commerce St. NW, Warren, departed this life at 5:37 p.m.Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at her residence, following complications from an extended illness.

She was born April 21, 1932, in Union Springs, Ala., the daughter of Harrison and Lillian Davie Hamilton, coming to the area 68 years ago.

She was employed with Packard Electric Division of General Motors for 39 years as a quality inspector, before retiring in 1993. She also worked for Warren Progressive Market and was a certified daycare provider.

She was a 1949 graduate of Westfield High School in Westfield, Ala. She was a member of New Jerusalem Fellowship Church, where she was a church mother. She was a member of the N.A.A.C.P, Community Volunteer Council and enjoyed cooking and gardening.

She leaves to mourn two sons, Raymond C. (Val) Lathan and Gregory (Patricia) Lathan, both of Warren; two daughters, Ms. Annice L. Provitt and Ms. Queenie V. Lathan, both of Warren; one sister, Ms. Victoria Smith of Pleasant Grove, Ala.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George Howard and John Howard; two sisters, Elgertha Hamilton and Mary Francis James; and one grandchild, Janelle Marie Lathan.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at the New Jerusalem Fellowship Church. Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m., one hour prior to service, Saturday. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
