Thomas E. Mazzella 1941-2017

YOUNGSTOWN — Thomas Eugene Mazzella, 76, of Warren, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at his home surrounded by those who loved him.

He was born March 25, 1941, in Youngstown, to Martin and DoraBelle DellaPenna Mazzella.

He was a graduate of Girard High School and lived most of his life in Trumbull County. He also lived years in Florida.

Tom retired from Packard Electric as a general foreman in 1998 after 30 years of service. He also enjoyed the craft of being an electrician by trade. He was so proud when his nephews continued to carry on the legacy of being a Mazzella and working as an electrician.

Tom was passionate about motorcycle riding and showing his classic hot rod at car shows. He enjoyed spending hours and hours in his garage just ‘tinkering’ around. When he wasn’t cruising the streets on his Harley or attending a car show, you could find him watching an old cowboy movie, which was another hobby he thoroughly enjoyed.

Tom was extremely loving and proud of his only child, Tami Mazzella, also of Warren.

He is also survived by his brothers, Timothy (Linda) of Girard, John (Claire) of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Marty of Mississippi; as well as his loving nephews, their families and many close friends.

Tami would like to thank her mother, Barb Mazzella and the amazing caregivers on his team with Home Instead Senior Care that assisted in supporting him and her toward the end of his life.

The family will receive friends 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at the Mineral Ridge Chapel of Lane Funeral Home in Mineral Ridge.

One of Tom’s wishes was to have a small graveside service with a bagpiper. This will take place at Welsh Hill Cemetery in Weathersfield immediately following the brief service at the funeral home. Tami asks that in lieu of flowers and such, donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, Trumbull County, in Tom’s memory.
