Hilda T. Campbell 1932-2017

LECANTO, Fla. — Hilda Theresia Campbell, 85, of Lecanto, Fla., passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at the Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast in Lecanto, Fla.

She was born Hilda Theresia Minarik in Vienna, Austria, May 18, 1932. She lived through the Vienna occupation before meeting and marrying her husband of 62 years, John Edward Campbell, while he was stationed at Tulln Air Base in the U.S. Air Force. They were married on Aug. 19, 1955, in Vienna. She spent the next 18 years supporting John in her role as a military wife and later during his career in the Civil Service.

Hilda and John made Citrus County their home after relocation from Shiloh, Ill., in 1999. They were members of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hernando, Fla.

Survivors include her husband, John; son, Richard and wife, Fumika, and their children, Joseph and Alena.

She is also survived by her family in Austria; brother, Ernst Minarik; and two sisters, Christine Maradof and Elfi Hedrich.

Hilda was preceded in death by her mother, Helene; and father, Anton.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home in Warren, where Pastor Jody Baker will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Sager Memorial Cemetery in Bristolville.
