Violet M. Kochemba

CORTLAND — Violet Marie Kochemba, 93, of Cortland, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017. She passed away at her residence.

Violet was born June 30, 1924, in Warren, a daughter of Robert L. and Cornelia M. Wakefield Wines.

She married Martin E. “Eddie” Kochemba June 26, 1943. They shared 57 years and many happy memories together before his passing in 2000.

Her childhood desire was to be a nurse like her mother and in 1974, at the age of 50, Violet was a graduate of Choffin Career and Technical Center. She was employed as a practical nurse at Warren General Hospital for 15 years.

She previously worked as a secretary / bookkeeper for Sanzenbacher Dodge, Morgan Lumber and J. D. Auto Sales.

She attended Harvest Christian Church.

Violet enjoyed learning about the history of her ancestors, and her latest hobby was compiling the genealogy for her family. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was talented in culinary skills and enjoyed cooking for her family. Violet enjoyed helping her husband with farming and gardening. She spent time planting flowers to have a beautiful landscape around their home. She cherished family and church gatherings at her home. Family was very important to her, and she prayed daily for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Violet is survived by three daughters, Marcia (Barry) Clute of Fowler, Elizabeth (Roberto) Monreal of Calahorra, Spain, and Kandy (Carl) Barnett of North Bloomfield. She enjoyed interacting with her 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Eddie, Violet was preceded in death by two sisters, Nora L.Curry and Ethel Wines.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 North Park Ave., Warren, with Pastor Ron Biehl officiating. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Violet will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family requests that material contributions be made to Harvest Christian Assembly of God Church, 8798 E. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44484, in her memory.

The family would like to thank Dr. Khaterpaul and his staff and her caregivers for their loving care to Violet.
