CORTLAND — Waldo “Wally” E. Plecker, 93, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

Waldo was born May 20, 1924, in Hadley, Pa., to George and Sarah Ellen Harden Plecker.

Waldo proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On June 24, 1950, he was united in marriage to the former Cornelia “Connie” Mason, who preceded him in death on Sept. 17, 1983.

Waldo spent his career first working for Mullen Manufacturing and then as a truck driver for the Trumbull County Highway Department.

He was a member of the Cortland Lions Club as well as the Moose Lodge 1012 in Mecca. He also enjoyed spending time gardening and fishing. He was affectionately known as the “mayor” of Emerson Circle.

He is survived by his daughters, Diana Plecker of Warren and Georgine Plecker of San Bernardino, Calif.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Heim and Lillian Andrews.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16 at Lane Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans, Cortland, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m.
