Vonda E. Douglas 1931-2017
WARREN — Vonda E. Taylor Douglas, 85, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital from complications from a stroke and fall.
She was born Dec. 15, 1931, in Falls Mill, W.Va., the daughter of Guy and Golda Willoughby Taylor.
Vonda was a graduate of Burnsville High School.
She was a member of SCOPE, where she took chair yoga classes. She was a member of Champion Church of the Nazarene. Vonda enjoyed shopping, gardening and cooking, but most of all her friends and family.
She was employed as a telephone operator in Sutton, W.Va., and at Ohio Lamp in Warren for a short time. She was a mother and homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Douglas, her daughter, Elaine Douglas (Jeffrey) Payne, and her grandson, Cole W. Payne, all of Warren; her brothers, Charles (Carol) Taylor of Debary, Fla., and Thomas (Sandra) Taylor of Hicksville; her dear sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; as well as her sweet caregiver, Brenda Byler.
Vonda was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 41 years, Donald J. Douglas, whom she married July 2, 1955.
She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest, William and Homer Taylor.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at Lane Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, where a 1 p.m. funeral service will immediately follow. Interment will be in Heaters Cemetery, Flatwoods, W.Va.
