Richard A. Taiclet 1947-2017

STREETSBORO — Richard A. Taiclet, 70, of Streetsboro, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born May 28, 1947, in Sharon, Pa., to the late Richard N. and Marjorie Alderman Taiclet.

Mr. Taiclet lived in Streetsboro since 1974 and was formerly of Brookfield. He graduated from Youngstown State University in 1974 with a degree in criminal justice. He was a Streetsboro police officer since 1974 and retired as chief of police in 2010. He was very involved with the Streetsboro Chamber of Commerce and the Streetsboro Family Days and was also a big part of the community junior baseball program while his children participated.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Robyn Koehn Taiclet, whom he married June 17, 1972; his children, Rodney (Jamie) Taiclet of Streetsboro, Bradley (Silver) Taiclet of Atwater and Richard E. (Mindy) Taiclet of Chesterland; his grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Savannah, Isaak and Natalie; and sister, Jean Baird of Oregon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by siblings, Ronald Taiclet and June Peterson.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes, Streetsboro Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at the Streetsboro High School Auditorium.

At his request, cremation will follow the services and private family inurnment will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery in Rittman.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ALS Foundation or Quilts of Valor.
