Mary A. Russo
NILES — Mary A. Russo, 88, of Niles, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 26, 1929, in Niles, the daughter of John and Angeline Cione Infante.
Mary was a 1946 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. She was employed as a cook at The Mount Carmel School cafeteria for several years and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles and church festival volunteer, making cheese puffs and pizza. She was also a member of Bagnoli Iripino Club, Catholic Women’s Guild, Immaculate Conception Society and enjoyed cooking and baking.
Her husband, Anthony L. Russo, whom she married Oct. 25, 1947, died Feb. 28, 2008.
She will be sadly missed by a son, Anthony R. (Maureen) Russo of Howland; three daughters, Dana (Joe) Sidor of Kent, Mary Ann (Gary) Pierce of Bainbridge and Patti (Robert) Reamer of Ann Arbor, Mich.; a brother, Theodore Infante of Niles; a sister, Josephine Nicastro of Niles; 11 grandchildren, Adrienne Fellenger, Scott (Monica) Fellenger, Sarah Pierce, Adam Pierce, Courtney (Chris) LaHurd, Cara Russo Gatta, Anthony Russo, Sam Reamer, Chris Pierce, Greg Pierce and Erika Davis; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John A. Infante Jr. and Michael Infante; and a great-granddaughter, Miranda Pierce.
Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles, where the Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry and the Blessed Mother Society will conduct prayers at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, preceded by a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Mary’s caregiver, Anne Wike, for her wonderful care and compassion.
