George Csehill Jr.
WARREN — George “Slim” Csehill Jr., 92, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017, at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born June 13, 1925, in Studa, Pa., the son of the late George and Anna Csehill Sr.
George came to Warren in 1942. He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.
He retired in January of 1993 from Copperweld Steel from the melt shop after 50-plus years.
He was a member of St. John Orthodox Church in Warren.
He enjoyed tracing back his family history in the Ukraine and visiting his parents’ birthplace and homestead. He loved good ethnic food, having family and grandchildren visit and going out for coffee and cruising the country.
George served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was issued the Honorable Service Lapel Button, Marine Corps Discharge Button and the Presidential Testimonial.
He is survived by his son, John (Sondra) Csehill of Chicago; a daughter-in-law, Kay Csehill; five grandchildren, John, Gregory, Kristin, Allison and Dominique; brother, Charles “Chow” Csehill of Howland; and nieces, Alexis and Debbie Csehill, and Joyce Cranner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Tillie Marie “Tatyana” Csehill, whom he married in 1950 and passed away in 2016; a son, George Chris Csehill; two brothers, Michael and John Csehill; and a sister, Mary Csehill.
Family and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483. A service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Peter P. Pawlick officiating. Burial will be in Howland Township Cemetery with military honors.
