Debra Lance 1962-2017

CORTLAND — Debra “Debbie” Lance, 55, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Debra was born June 11, 1962, in Warren, to the late Howard and Dorothy Coughlin Lance.

Debbie was a lifetime Cortland resident and a graduate of Lakeview High School. She was an assistant manager and clerk at BP and Circle K in Cortland for 17 years.

Debbie was very generous with her time, volunteering with the Red Cross disaster relief team and other awareness events. Debbie attended the Harvest Christian Assembly of God. She was also a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and avid Boyds Bear collector. Debbie had a heart of gold like no other, she loved meeting and befriending people.

She is survived by her brothers, Phillip (Sherry) Lance and Tom (Terry) Lance; two nieces, Erica (Eric) Baumgartner and Erin (John) Diacin; three great-nieces, Noelle, Brielle and Sofia; and two great-nephews, Gavin and Dylan.

Besides her parents, Debra was preceded in death by her brother, Edward.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17 at the Lane Funeral Home, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St. in Cortland, where the memorial service will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday by Pastor Ron Biehl. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
