Ronald M. Lewis

GIRARD — Ronald M. Lewis, 67, passed away late Saturday evening, July 15, 2017, at Hospice House with his family by his side.

Ronald was born May 31,1950, in Mineral Ridge, a son of Merle and Joann Evans Lewis, and moved to Girard in 1972.

He was a graduate of Mineral Ridge High School, and proudly served his country from 1968 to 1972 in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Lewis worked for Packard Electric for 36 years, retiring in 2004.

Ron was an avid fan of all sports teams in Ohio, including The Ohio State University Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed gardening and decorating for the holidays. A music lover throughout his life, Ron spent many years going to concerts.

Mr. Lewis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was very involved in his neighborhood, and he would gladly help anyone who asked him. From fixing bicycles to offering rides, Ron was a father-figure and great friend to all.

Left to cherish memories of him are his wife of nearly 43 years, Juanita Cavalcanti Lewis, whom he married Aug. 23, 1974; two daughters, Theresa (David) Chapman of Rogers and Alisha (Brian) Schenk of Girard; a son, Joseph (Bobbi-Jo Poe) Lewis of Girard; 15 grandchildren, Roseanne (Tommy), Desiree, Jordan, Jamiae, Brianna, Seth, Alexus, Joe, Joel, Xiali, Summer, Ethan, Tangeria, Angelina, and Evan; three great-grandchildren, Dante, Lillianna and Serenity; his father, Merle Lewis of Tampa, Fla., two brothers, Fred (Suki) Lewis of Augusta, Ga., and Tim Lewis of New Hampshire; many nieces, nephews and extended family members; and many friends.

Ron will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

His mother, Joann Lewis, preceded him in death.

Family and friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard.

Family and friends may also call noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 20 at the funeral home, where funeral services will take place at 1 p.m.

Interment with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
