Jessie A. Glover 1919-2017

WARREN — Jessie A. Glover, 97, died Friday, July 14, 2017, at her residence.

Jessie was born Oct. 6, 1919, in Alvy, W.Va., the daughter of Mahlon and Mary Alice Baker.

During World War II, Jessie was a women’s ordinance worker, making ammunitions for the U.S. war effort at Martin Airplane Factory in Baltimore. She also worked for Weirton Steel.

Jessie married Paul Edward Glover April 22, 1947. Mr. Glover passed away in December 2006.

Jessie loved her children and grandchildren and spent many hours sewing quilt tops that were distributed to children’s homes. During WWII, she was very proud of her service as a “Rosie the Riveter.”

She leaves behind two daughters, Debra (Pete) Nash of Warren and Linda (Jay) King of Warren; grandchildren, Megan (Patrick) Drobotij of Tallmadge, Ryan (Kalynn) King of Colorado, Jenna (Martin) Sharp of Cortland and Scott (Anna) King of Colorado; and great-grandchildren, Carter and Charlotte King, also of Colorado.

Preceding Jessie in death were her sisters, Cecil Walters, Wanda Rakocky, Wilda Kline, Gertrude Swiger and Freda Dotson; and her husband, Paul Glover.

The funeral service will begin 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at Crown Hill’s Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna. There will be no visitation. Burial will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park.
