NOVELTY — Jane Griffin Wilber-Kanche, 94, of Novelty, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at home.

She was born on May 22, 1923, in Binghamton, N.Y., a daughter of the late Howard Griffin, M.D., and Frances Snyder Griffin.

Jane will be dearly missed.

She was the beloved wife of the late John Vernon Wilber, M.D., and Michael G. Kanche; treasured friend of the late George Baumgartner. She also was preceded in death by a son, R. Geoffrey Wilber, M.D.; brother, Judson Griffin, M.D., and his wife, Edith Griffin, also deceased; and a sister, Frances Wise, and her husband, Jack, also deceased.

Survivors include her children, John “Jack” (Nora) Wilber, M.D., Wendie (John) Cuckler, Douglas Wilber, Roger Wilber, M.D., Julie (Paul) Kuhl and Laurie Wilber; stepchildren, Joanne (Rich) Gramelt, John (Melanie) Kanche, Michael (Peggy) Kanche, Karen (Paul) Racz and William (Linda) Kanche; daughters-in-law, Elizabeth Wilber and Laila Wilber; grandchildren, Amy (Jarrod) Holbrook, D.O., Charles “Chad” (Kim) Wilber, M.D., Kaitlin “Kate” Wilber, Christen Gavin, William Wilber, Megan (Aaron) Smith, Bethanie (Greg) Jenkins, Laurie Cuckler, Mara, Andrew and Jack Wilber, Abigail Cuckler, Kurt Wilber, Nathan Kuhl, Scott Powers, Ryan Kuhl, Erik Powers and Brandon Kuhl; great-grandchildren, J. Scott and Aubrie Matanick, Emma Holbrook, Lily Jenkins, Clara Holbrook, Quinn Smith and Olivia Jenkins; and several stepgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jane 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2017, at DeJohn Funeral Home and Celebrations Center of Chesterland, 12811 Chillicothe Road, state Route 306, just south of Mayfield Road. A celebration of life service will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2017, at funeral home.

Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Warren.
