Dolores Spadin 1929-2017
NILES — Dolores “Dolly” Spadin, 87, of Niles, passed away 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Hospice House, Poland.
Mrs. Spadin was born Sept. 10, 1929, in Joliet, Ill., the daughter of the late Ignatius and Evelyn Juricic.
She attended schools in Joliet. After moving to Niles with her husband, Dolly was employed at Kazoni grocery store, where she held numerous positions. She was also employed for Strouble-Nash Podiatry, where she was a receptionist and physician’s assistant.
Dolly loved to dance, especially to polkas and the jitterbug. She looked forward to meeting her two best friends at Bob Evans for dinner; the three of them together acquired the nickname “the golden girls.” In her spare time, Dolly volunteered at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for 13 years. Mrs. Spadin was very sentimental; she cherished the memories that her family and friends created together. Every week, Dolly would go and cheer on her beloved Niles Red Dragons football team. After each game, Dolly and her husband would go to their favorite watering hole, the Oasis Lounge, where Dolly and her friends would dance the night away.
She is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Granger Schuller; a grandson, Steven C. (Jennifer) Schuller; a great-granddaughter, Isabella “Izzy” Leigh Schuller; a sister, Bernie (Carl) Fosnaugh; and a sister-in-law, Mary Juricic. Dolores is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dolly was preceded in death by two husbands, Tom Granger and John Spadin; and 12 brothers and sisters.
