Vincent H. Williams

BRISTOLVILLE — Vincent H. Williams, 82, of Bristolville, passed away Tuesday evening, Feb. 14, 2017, at his residence.

He was born March 20, 1934, in Bazetta, a son of the late Robert Williams and Hazel Applequist Williams Drum.

Vince married the former D. Jean Shepherd on April 1, 1956. She preceded him in death Nov. 14, 2014.

He retired from Copperweld Steel after 32 years as a first class millwright.

Vince grew up helping with the family farm and later Lakeside Zoo in Mecca, where he fed and cared for an array of wildlife. He loved to hunt, fish, play cards, travel, spend time with friends at the Farmington Senior Center and watch sporting events. Vince was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was well known for his mechanical ability to fix TVs, radios, appliances and cars.

He was a former member of the Bristolville Volunteer Fire Dept., former head foreman of the Bristol Township Road Department, and until recently, an Amish taxi driver.

He attended Bristolville United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Dawn (John) Dunn and Darilee (Terry) Devereaux; a son, David (Susie) Williams; two brothers, Eugene and Larry; a stepsister, Janet Drum; grandchildren, Johnathan, Joshua, Jeramy, Kira, Nicole and Stephanie; seven great-grandchildren; an uncle, Lyle Applequist; his lifelong friend, Gwen Richman; and many members of the Amish community.

Besides his wife, Vince was preceded in death by his stepfather, Orla Drum; three brothers; and two sisters.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at the Bristolville United Methodist Church, 6271 N. Park Ave., Bristolville, with Pastor Shirley Frantz officiating. Friends may call 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Funeral arrangements for Mr. Williams were provided by the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 North Park Ave., Warren.
