CANFIELD — Mrs. Margaret “Peg” McGlone, 84, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Monday afternoon, Feb. 20, 2017, at the Inn at Ironwood.

Peg was born March 20, 1932, in Youngstown, a daughter of Thomas and Margaret Reardon McGahagan. She was a 1950 graduate of Ursuline High School.

Peg married the love of her life, Joseph F. McGlone, on Oct. 11, 1952, and they were married until his death on Sept. 26, 2002. Together they had seven children who filled their lives with love and laughter.

Passionate about her faith, she spent any free time she had volunteering for St. Nicholas Parish by teaching CCD, managing the schedule for lectors and distributors, and supporting the Moms and Dads Club. She also spent over 20 years as a volunteer at the Ursuline Motherhouse.

After her children were grown, she worked for Wern and Associates, Inc. from 1994-2014 as the corporate treasurer and business manager.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Maureen (Charles) Wern of Warren, Mary Catherine “Kitty” (William) Brown of Canfield, James of Struthers, John (Sally) of Jamestown, Pa., Michael (Lori) of Boardman and Matthew (Judi) of Canfield; her daughter-in-law, Lorraine McGlone of Hudson; her sister, Mary (Thomas) Pompura of Canfield; 18 grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; her son, Joseph P.; her brother, Thomas McGahagan; and her dearest friends, Jane and William Thornton.

A prayer service will be 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church Boardman. Friends may call 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ursuline Motherhouse.

The family wishes to thank the staff members at the Inn at Ironwood who cared so lovingly for Peg.
