Shirley J. Montecalvo

WARREN — Shirley Jean Montecalvo, 81, of Warren, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

She was born March 6, 1935, in Warren, to the late Tony and Mary Obrock Novak.

After attending Warren G. Harding High School, she married the late Larry Montecalvo on Oct. 10, 1952, and they shared 60 wonderful years together.

She was a homemaker and worked part-time at Richard’s Shoe Store and then went on to work at Trumbull County Child Support, where she retired after 25-plus years. She enjoyed traveling to her second home in Virginia and had a passion for crocheting and needlepoint. In her later years, Shirley and her friends enjoyed spending time together at the casinos. Shirley was a loving, caring and compassionate person who had a zest for life; her smile and her laughter would light up a room. Everyone who knew her loved her. She found much joy in her four children and nine grandchildren, who simply adored her. Most of all, she was very proud of her loving family. Shirley was a devout Christian and her favorite Bible verse was “This too shall pass.” She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Memories of Shirley will be carried on by her children, Lawrence G. (Suzanne) Montecalvo of Warren, Michael (Mary Ann) Montecavlo of Warren, Ted J. (Susan) Montecalvo of Niles and Holly Montecalvo of Warren; and grandchildren, Anthony, Angela, Elizabeth, Annamarie, Therese, Geno, McKenzie, Marissa and Gabrielle.

Besides her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Montecalvo; and sister, Flo Muntian.

Services will be 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where cousin Mark L. Hall will officiate. Friends may call 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
