Robert E. Haftman

WARREN – Robert E. Haftman, 85, of Warren, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at Andover Village Nursing Home, Andover, Ohio.

Robert was born May 30, 1931, in Richeyville, Pa., the son of the late Henry and Anna Marcovitch Haftman.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Republic Steel, WCI  after 40 years, as a boiler repairman.

Robert was a member of Niles First Church of the Nazarene for many years.

He was united in marriage to Ileen Murphy Haftman on Nov. 15, 1952, who passed away on Jan. 5, 2005.

Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He volunteered at his church and at the Warren Family Mission. He loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Indians. He also enjoyed the outdoors and liked camping, fishing and doing yardwork.

Robert is survived by two daughters, Millie Swartz of Niles and Roberta (Bret) Fleckenstein of Ashtabula; a brother, Donald of Richyville, Pa.; a sister, Delores Cheroki of Monessen, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Chase, Jordan, Aaron and Will.

He is preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Bernie and Edward; and a sister, Lilian.

Services for Robert will take place on Monday, Dec. 5 , 2016, at the Crown Hill Mausoleum Chapel in Vienna, Ohio.

The family will greet friends noon to 1 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Gary Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Niles Church of the Nazarene, 1822 Vienna Road, Niles, OH 44446.
