Sister Mary Ritamae Preto 1933-2016
CHARDON — Sister Mary Ritamae, SND, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, at Notre Dame Provincial Center in Chardon.
Sister was born April 15, 1933, in Newton Falls and was known for the great love with which she reached out to her Sisters in community, her family, friends, students and co-workers. She ministered for over 50 years in the area of education and had an innate sense of what would interest and engage her students. Sister Ritamae was a woman of conviction and gentleness with a welcoming smile that reflected the love, care and compassion of our good God.
Sister Mary Ritamae was the cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; dear friend of many; and sister to the congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame, with whom she shared her life for 64 years.
Sister was preceded in death by her parents, Purcell and Bernice Schriver Preto; and siblings, James (Ellen, deceased) and Rita (Jake, deceased) Squibbs.
Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at Notre Dame Provincial Center, 13000 Auburn Road Chardon, OH, 44024, where there will be a 7 p.m. prayer service, and 9 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016.
The Mass of Christian burial for Sister Mary Ritamae will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at Notre Dame Provincial Center, with the burial following immediately after Mass in Resurrection Cemetery on the Centergrounds. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Sisters of Notre Dame at the above address.
