WARREN — Nick Cucuras, 87, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, with his family by his side.
He was born Jan. 30, 1929, in Lindos, Rhodes, Greece, the son of the late Kyriakos and Panagiota Cucuras.
Nick was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren, where he served on the Parish Council as an Emeritus member and Auditor. He was also a member of the YASOU Club, Senior Club, AHEPA, where he was a lifetime member of the Zeus Club #88 and AHEPAN of the year in 1999, the Pan-Rhodian Society and the Chios Society, Aghia Markela Chapter.
He served in the Greek Navy and the Merchant Marines.
He is survived by his two sons, Charles (Tsambika) Cucuras of Naperville, Ill., and John (Maria) Cucuras of Parkland, Fla.; six grandchildren, Evangelia (Ioannis), Anastasia (Mark), Maria (Steven), Rafaelia, Nicholas and Evangelia; three great-grandchildren, Maria, Kalliopi and Maria; and two sisters, Fedra Lambis and Flora (Mike) Hatzis, both of Warren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evangelia Cucuras, whom he married April 20, 1958, and who passed away Aug. 26, 1992; a daughter, Chrisanthi Cucuras; and a brother-in-law, Fotios Lambis.
Family and friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, with a 5 p.m. Trisagion service, at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 and 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 429 High St., Warren, Ohio 44481. A service will follow, 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, with the Rev. Constantine Valantasis officiating.
