John Motes Jr.


BURGHILL — John Motes Jr., 80, of Burghill, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 6, 2016, at his home.

He was born July 23, 1936, in Statesboro, Ga., the son of John Motes Sr. and Eunice Allen Motes Deleon.

John was a Marine Corps veteran serving in Korea. He was in communications.

He was a journeyman plumber in California for 20 years. He retired from Owen Brothers Plumbing. After moving to Ohio, he was a truck driver for three years.

He was a member of the Moose Club in Greenville, Pa., and the Elks in California.

He enjoyed freehand drawing and antique cars.

John is survived by his wife, Marjorie Mott Motes, whom he married July 4, 1981; a daughter, Lori (Steve) Walsh of Washington; three sons, Scott Loriensen of Oregon, Paul Alan (Debbie) Motes of New Mexico and Shawn Waylon (Susie) Motes of Riverside, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Candy (Jim) Widener of Virginia and a brother, Joaquin (Kathy) Deleon of Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and relatives may call noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at the Galloway-Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 state Route 7, Hartford, Ohio 44424. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Hartford Township Cemetery.
