Hubert J. Doucette
CORTLAND — Hubert Joseph Doucette, 86, of Cortland, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of the late John Leo and Mary Charlotte Saulnier Doucette.
He married the former Doraine Parke on April 7, 1956, and they have shared over 60 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving husband and father devoted to providing for his wife and children, who all loved him dearly and will miss his strength, guidance and love.
He was an avid and accomplished carver and woodworker, a talented sailor, sailing instructor and scuba diver. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Hubert received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia and was the vice president of Denman Tire Company in Leavittsburg.
Memories of Hubert will be cherished by his wife, Doraine Margaret Doucette of Cortland; sons, Gregory John (Terri) Doucette of Charleston, S.C., and Roger Duke Doucette of Orono, Maine; daughter, Sharon Ann Doucette of Winston Salem, N.C.; and grandchildren, Evan, Kelsey, Sarah, Nicholas and Michael Doucette.
Besides his parents, Hubert was preceded in death by his brother, Pat Doucette; and sister, Christine Amiro.
In accordance with Hubert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home in Warren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association and the Hope Center for Cancer Care in Warren.
