CAMBRIDGE — Eleanore Christine Higgins, 91, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct.10, 2016, at her home at The Cardinal Place, after her third bout with cancer; she had survived two previous battles with breast cancer, which she was very proud of.

Eleanore was born April 10, 1925, in Trumbull County, daughter of the late Martin Kochemba and Elizabeth Handlovich Kochemba.

She was first and foremost a dedicated Witness of Jehovah as a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She moved to Cambridge in 1956 from Trumbull County to raise her family. She worked for the family business for many years. She also worked for the Cambridge Country Club, as a bookkeeper for Dr. Duff’s medical practice and retired in 1996, after working at Variety Glass for Tom Mosser.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Andrew, Joseph, Edward and Richard; and three sisters, Veronica, Mary and Dorothy.

She is survived by five children, Tim (Laura) Higgins, Martin (Sandra) Higgins, Mike (Brenda) Higgins, Melanie (Brad) Lauer and Lisa (Bill) Tarling; 10 grandchildren, Scott, Eric, Michelle, Ben, Ryan, Chrissy, Sasha, Kelli, Molli and Ryan Lauer; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Wade of North Carolina.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at The Cardinal Place and Hospice of Guernsey Inc.

Memorial visitation hours will be 2:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Cambridge, where a 4 p.m. memorial service will follow.

As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
