WARREN — Darlene Kirsch Hunter, 77, of Warren, passed away with her daughters and sister at her side on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at Northside Hospital in Youngstown, following a brief illness.
Darlene was born March 26, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of the late Joseph and Armella Coulter Kirsch.
She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1957 and was a Pittsburgh area resident for many years before moving to Ohio in 1979.
She was united in marriage to Lawrence N. Hunter on Dec. 31, 1966; he passed away in February 1998.
Besides her husband, Darlene was preceded in death, just three weeks ago on Nov. 7, 2016, by her longtime companion, Frank Havrila of Youngstown.
Darlene was a loyal employee at Goodwill Industries in Youngstown for 24 years. She worked as a transportation specialist and retired at the age of 74. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Darlene is survived by her children, Armella DiOrio, Alida Hunter and Michael (Sue) Hunter, all of Charlotte, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Bailey and Elizabeth Hunter and Gabriella and Kendal DiOrio. In addition, Darlene is survived by her sisters, Jeanne (Ray) Schwoeble and Renee Burke; and her brother, Joseph (Karen) Kirsch, all of Pittsburgh.
Services for Darlene will be Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at the Crown Hill Mausoleum Chapel in Vienna. The family will greet friends 10 to 11 a.m., with the funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Tom Badanjek will officiate. Friends are invited to join the family for a 1 p.m. luncheon at Leo’s Ristorante, 7042 E. Market St. in Warren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Heart Association, in her memory.
