FOWLER – Virginia Scott Griffin, 98, passed away peacefully at her home at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, following a brief illness.
She was born April 6, 1918, in Elkins, W.Va., the daughter of Blaine and Alta Smith Scott.
A lifetime Fowler resident, Virginia was a graduate of Fowler High School and had attended the Youngstown Business College. She retired from the accounting department of the Packard Electric Division of General Motors Corp. in 1974 after 35 years of service.
Virginia was a member of the Fowler Community Church and the ladies’ organization there. She volunteered for many years at Trumbull Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Howland SCOPE and the Red Hat Society.
Her husband, Fern E. Griffin, whom she married Aug. 28, 1943, preceded her in death on May 28, 1967.
Funeral services will be noon Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at the Fowler Community Church, where friends will be received 11 a.m. until the time of the service. The Rev. Joel Dickson will officiate. Interment will be in Dugan Cemetery in Fowler.
