Thelma L. Rudolph

1919-2016

CORTLAND — Thelma L. Rudolph, 97, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at Lake Vista.

She was born April 1, 1919, in Haworth, Okla., the daughter of the late Bird and Ruby Gilbert Gordon.

Thelma was raised on a farm in Oklahoma, where she picked cotton. She graduated from cosmetology school and soon after her marriage to Walter M. Rudolph, on Dec. 31, 1943, she moved to Trumbull County, where she lived in Newton Falls, Cortland and Mecca. Her husband preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1979.

Thelma enjoyed reading, gardening, playing cards and watching Joel Osteen on TV. She was a superior seamstress and a 4-H member and adviser for many years.

Memories of Thelma will be carried on by four daughters, Kathy (Clinton) Fowler of Bristolville, Judy (Rick) Smith of Mecca, Rita (William Jr.) Barnes of Sevierville, Tenn., and June (Joseph) Delduca of St. George, Utah; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters in addition to her husband, Walter.

Family will receive friends 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Warren, where 11:30 a.m. services will take place. Services of final committal will follow Crown Hill Burial Park.
