WARREN – Sam Wilson, 94, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Community Skilled Nursing Center.
He was born March 21, 1922, in Belmont, Ala., the son of Sam Wilson Sr. and Julia Armstead.
Mr. Wilson was employed with Laborers International Union of North America Local 935 as a construction worker. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946, fighting in central Europe during World War II.
He is survived by three sons, Samuel Lee Wilson and Byron Wilson, both Warren, and I.Z. Wilson of Ellenwood, Ga; four daughters, Julia Wilson of Stone Mountain, Ga., Alfreda Wilson, Cheary Wilson-McElroy and Dale Armstrong, all of Warren; one stepson, Jordan Sanders Jr. of New York, N.Y.; one sister, Sadie Williams of Baltimore; 23 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Hilean Sanders.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hoyt Street Flouring Ministries. Calling hours will be one hour prior to service. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at 1631 Sunset Drive NE, the home of his daughter, Cheary Wilson-McElroy.
