Randall J. Elser Sr.

WILMINGTON, Del. — Randall James Elser, Sr., 67, of Wilmington, Del., passed away at his residence on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016.

Born July 16, 1949, in Warren, Randall was the son of the late James B. Elser.

He worked for the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department, IDS and Steel Technologies. He later worked for Bank of America as a fraud analyst until his retirement.

Randy was a graduate of Champion High School, where he excelled in cross country and basketball. In 1967, he was first team all-league, first team all-Trumbull County and honorable mention All-Northeastern Ohio. He shot 58 percent from the floor, averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds a game, led the team in scoring with 354 points, and tied Wilt Chamberlain’s rebounding record at the Farrell Tournament with 52 rebounds in two games. He was inducted into the Champion Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret Idell Mullen Elser; his brothers, Rex and Daryl “Ace;” his sister, Kathleen; his son, Randall J. Elser Jr. of Wilmington; and granddaughter, Emily Elser.
