Michaeline Anderson

HOWLAND – Michaeline “Mitzi” Anderson, 77, of Howland, formerly of Austin, Texas, entered eternal rest on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, while at home.

Mitzi was born March 30, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter to Michael and Stella Stachura Bogden.

She graduated in 1957 from The Rayen School in Youngstown and shortly after, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. She was honorably discharged from her duties on May 6, 1960. While serving in the Air Force, she met and married Donald H. Sokol Sr. She and her husband traveled around the world, while raising five children, Donald Jr., Dennis, Vickie, Tracy and Tammy, until they settled in Austin, Texas, in 1978.

Working full time as a Systems Analyst at Texas Instruments, plus raising her family, she pursued her college degree and in 1983, received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from St. Edward’s University in Austin. She later worked for TenX Technologies and eventually opened her own business, Tera-Storage Solutions, Inc., Austin. Her work was her passion from which she never retired.

Mitzi was a long time member of Our Lady’s Maronite Catholic Church, Austin, where she was active as a volunteer and choir member.

In her spare time, she enjoyed bringing people together, especially family during the holidays. Her other passions included cooking, baking, football and the Washington Redskins. Mitzi was a lover of animals as well as cultivating vegetables and herbs in her garden. She had the opportunity to spend time with her surviving sisters, Grace and Elaine, when she moved from Texas to Warren in October 2015.

She leaves behind her children, Donald “Buddy” Sokol (Carole) of Granbury, Texas, Dennis Sokol (Joanne) of Round Rock, Texas, Vickie Sokol Evans of Austin, Texas, Tracy Peden (Kirk) of Spicewood, Texas, and Tammy Shvartsman (Edward) of Cedar Park, Texas; her 15 grandchildren, Abigail Cheney, Parker Cheney, Amelia Cheney, Statia Sokol, Grace Sokol, Lauren Sokol, Michael Sokol, Melanie Sokol, Andrew Sokol, Sokol Evans, William Evans, Camryn Peden, Carly Peden, Benjamin Shvartsman and Estelle Shvartsman; her sisters, Grace Jeffco (Gene) and Elaine Palette, both of Vienna; her first husband, Donald, of Round Rock, Texas; her stepson, Brian Wills of Austin, Texas; her stepdaughter, Sandy Anderson Cheatham of Liberty Hill, Texas; her many nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly; and her dog, Peanut, and cat, Mittens, who never left her side.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, Robert Anderson, whom she married Oct. 18, 1985, and who passed on April 13, 2015; her sister, Dorothy Byck; and her brothers-in-law, John Byck and Bill Palette.

A time of gathering to honor Mitzi will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Briceland Funeral Service, located on the historic village green, at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. Immediatley following, a Mass for her will begin at 11 a.m. at St. Maron Parish, 1555 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, Ohio 44511.
