James G. Manross

LORDSTOWN — James G. Manross, 89, of Lordstown, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland.

He was born May 12, 1927, in Warren, the son of the late James E. and Isabel Stitts Manross.

James married the former Dorothy Summers on July 15, 1950; she preceded him in death Sept. 21, 1993.

James retired from Republic Steel after 32 years of service and also worked for Eck-Miller for 15 years as a truck driver.

He was a member of Tod Avenue United Methodist Church and a was veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. He enjoyed visiting with friends, square dancing and was an avid Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Pirates and NASCAR fan.

James is survived by two nephews, Robert M. (Julanne) Follmeyer of Howland and David J. Follmeyer of Champion; and a niece, Donna Hessam Golzari of York, Pa.

Besides his wife, James was preceded in death by his parents; his son, James G. Manross Jr.; a sister, Elaine Manross; and a nephew, Bobby Manross.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna. The family will receive friends 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Crown Hill Chapel. Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park.

Arrangements are being handled by the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
