Cynthia L. Coons

She was born Nov. 3, 1962, in Warren, the daughter of William and Virginia Shaffer of Cortland. Cindy was a graduate of Mathews High School.

Cindy was known for her love for boating, pets and an overwhelming love for friends and family. She was not only the mother of her own daughter but of many others that called her “mom” as well. She spent most of her time on the river in Parker, Ariz., where she and her husband would boat and spend time with close friends and family. The water is where she was most at home. She loved spending time outside in the sun, especially on patios, where chips and salsa were served. While at home, she was known for opening her home and heart to friends in need and caring for her beloved dogs, Roxanne and Spanky.

In addition to her parents, Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Michael, and daughter, Holly, both of Simi Valley; mother-in-law, Terry Coons; and brother-in-law, Danny Coons; one sister, Tina Pleasent and her husband, Gerry, of Enfield, Conn.; and a brother, Mickey Shaffer of Cortland. She was also the cool, loving aunt to her nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held.

Donations can be made to support Team Road Runner in the fifth annual walk for mesothelioma research on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016. This team is in Cindy’s honor.
