Clifford C. Morgan
CORTLAND — Clifford C. Morgan, 71, of Cortland, died 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, after a heroic battle with cancer.
He was born June 1, 1945, in Beaver Falls, Pa., to the late Louis and Ella Morgan. He graduated from Northwestern High School.
At the age of 19, Cliff followed the footsteps of other proud family members and joined the U.S. Marines. He served his country proudly with numerous tours in Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart, the prestigious Presidential Unit Citation and many other meritorious awards for his service.
Cliff was a businessman in Trumbull County. He owned and operated Thompson Mechanical Inc. for over 30 years, retiring in 2010. He was an active member in The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, serving twice as president, as well as numerous other official positions. He was actively involved in many other civic organizations.
Memories of Clifford will be carried on by his wife, Billie Morrison Morgan of Cortland; brother, Louis Frank Morgan of Columbus, Ga.; sisters, Shirley E. (James) Redmond of Rogers and Doris J. Borelli of Darlington, Pa.; a daughter, Lyndsey Morrison; and grandchildren, Mackenzie and Brielle of Cortland. Also, by a multitude of aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins, whom he loved dearly. He also leaves behind a friend in everyone he met; he was known as “Uncle Cliff” to all.
Cliff was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph E. Morgan; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Morgan of Cortland.
Arrangements are entrusted to McFarland and Son Funeral Services, 271 North Park Ave., Warren, Ohio 44481.
Family will receive friends 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, and 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, with a service following at the funeral home and a military burial at Hillside Cemetery in Cortland, near the flag which he so loved!
