Charlotte L. Rankin
NILES — Charlotte L. Rankin, 91, passed away peacefully at 12:25 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at her residence.
Charlotte was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Niles, the daughter of Arthur and Letha Myers Williams and lived here all her life.
Charlotte graduated from Niles McKinley High School and attended Kent State University. She was a an elementary school teacher for the Niles City School System, a member of the Niles First United Methodist Church, Ida McKinley Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as a Past Worthy Matron, and enjoyed traveling and baking.
For many years, she did book reviews and collected ink pens and pencils and explained their construction to elementary school children. Charlotte enjoyed family activities and especially being with her five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Charlotte is survived by two daughters, Linda (Phil) Loveless of Arlington and Susan (Michael) DelAguaro of Knoxville; sister, Carol Glunt of Niles; grandchildren, Kevin Loveless, Kirk (Susan) Loveless and Jennifer (John) Hill, all of Texas, and Michael K. (Laciena) DelAguaro and Debbie (Todd) Stiles of Tennessee; and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Ashley, Katelyn, Gavin, Madison, Maisie, Ryan, Braxton and Kylee.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Rankin, whom she married April 19,1945; he died Nov. 7, 1998.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paula Marbury officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at the funeral home and also beginning 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the services. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
