Michael L. Blake

SUMMERFIELD, Fla. – Michael L. Blake, 72, of Summerfield, formerly of Champion, passed away Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at the Brandley Hospice House in Summerfield after a courageous two-year battle with colon cancer.

He was born Oct. 11, 1943, in Weston, W.Va., the son of the late Gilbert and Wanda McCauley Blake.

Michael graduated from Weston High School in 1961. He then worked as a car hauler for Anchor Motor Freight and Leaseway out of Lordstown for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Teamsters Union 377 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, working and calling bingo in both Summerfield and Belleview, Fla.

On June 5, 1976, he married Patricia Zuraw Blake, who survives. He is also survived by one sister, Carol (Butch) Thoms of Weston, W.Va.; two brothers, Francis (Carole) Blake of Gassaway, W.Va., and David (Martha) Blake of Weston; eight nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Miller of Nalcrest, Fla.

Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
