Patti M. York
BOULDER, Colo. – Patti Marie Walker York, of Boulder, Colo., left this earth to reside in the kingdom of our Lord on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014. She was 57 years of age and passed away due to complications following a heart transplant.
She was born on March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day), 1957, in Warren, the daughter of Donald (deceased) and Martha Walker.
She grew up in Champion, and upon graduating from Champion High School, attended Kent State University, where she received a degree in nursing.
She worked at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren until moving to Colorado in 1986 and began a career at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver. Before leaving the hospital in 1998, she returned to Regis University and attained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She continued her nursing career in the field of disease management most recently for Alere Medical.
On Oct. 14, 2000, she was married to Gary York, also formerly of Warren. The marriage took place in the manor lodge at Punderson State Park in Newbury.
Patti was a past member of the Warren Junior Military Band, where she developed a great enthusiasm for drum and bugle corps. She also enjoyed flowers, cooking, baking, arts and crafts, wildlife viewing and hiking on trails in the mountain community where she lived.
Patti is survived by her husband, Gary of Boulder, Colo.; her mother, Martha Walker and sister, Cathy Giammarco, both of Champion; and brothers, Donald Walker of Arvada, Colo., and Dick Walker of Warren. She is also survived by two nieces, Leeann Cupp of Champion and Monica Walker of Warren; and a nephew, D.J. Giammarco of Champion.
Services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Champion Christian Church, where Pastor Ken E. Hopkins Jr. will officiate. Family and friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Champion Township Cemetery.
