Marlene J. Kashubara
AUSTINTOWN – The good Lord called an angel home to sing in the heavenly choir on Monday, July 14, 2014, with the passing of Marlene J. Pellin Weyer Kashubara. After a long illness, she passed away in the comfort of her home with her son by her side.
Marlene was born on May 8, 1934, in Youngstown to the late Earnest R. Pellin and Irma Balla Pellin.
Marlene was a 1952 graduate of South High School. She went on to work for the Youngstown Hospital Association, first at Southside Hospital in the billing department for associates in radiology. She completed her career as a secretary for Teamsters Local 377.
Marlene loved music. After high school, she joined the Sweet Adelines and was later a member of the Organ Society. She was most proud of becoming a member of the Notables Choir, helping to raise spirits in local nursing homes. She also loved the Gaither Homecomings, especially the friendship she found in Mark Lowery through his music and humor. Marlene will be remembered with much love by those who knew her through music.
On April 9, 1983, Marlene married the love of her life, Pete Kashubara, with whom she enjoyed 18 years of wedded bliss until his passing in June 2001.
Marlene will be greatly missed by her loving son, Donald Weyer, with whom she made her home, along with her cats, Sassy, Junior, Bo and Dusty.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earnest F. Pellin.
