John C. Deemer
HOWLAND – John C. “Chris” Deemer, 46, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Cleveland Clinic due to complications from a four-month battle with throat cancer.
He was born Sept. 18, 1967, in Warren, the son of Dolores Dvorak and David Deemer.
He was a 1985 graduate of Champion High School and had studied computer science at Youngstown State University. He had worked at Paragon Consulting in Beachwood as a senior computer consultant.
He was of the Russian Orthodox faith and attended St. John’s Orthodox Church.
Chris was very involved with the Howland Athletic Club and had served as baseball commissioner, league director, trustee and coach. He also imitated and served as director of the Howland Woodbat Weekend and Fall Ball director.
He enjoyed his family, baseball, coaching, watching old movies, sailing, traveling to Mexico, camping and playing poker, and was a wine advocate.
He is survived by his wife, Kiersten A. Deemer; three sons, Jackson, Garrett and Brayden Deemer, all of Howland; father and stepmother, David (Carol) Deemer of Howland; mother and stepfather, Dolores (Ron) Elston of Warren; brother, Brian (Donna) Deemer of Johnson; sister, Dawn Susko of Columbus; stepbrother, Jeff Elston of Warren; father- and mother-in-law, William (Bette) Frenchko of Howland; two sisters-in-law, Anna Duchene of Columbus and Melissa (Jeff) Wallace of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; three nephews, Christian, Jeffrey and Michael; four nieces, Hope, Jessie, Savannah and Makenna; and his dog, Pugslie.
He was preceded in death by a stepsister, Kimberly Elston.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday with a 5 p.m. memorial service and from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jonathon Cholcher officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Chris’ name to the Howland Athletic Club or to St. John’s Orthodox Church, 2220 Reeves Road N.E., Warren, OH 44483.
