Margaret T. Ziegler

WARREN – Margaret T. Ziegler, 92, formerly of Cortland, passed away peacefully at 1:30 a.m. on Monday June 23, 2014, at Gillette Nursing Home.

She was born on June 4, 1922, in Niles, the daughter of William and Katherine Sine Kearney.

She was a 1941 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and worked in the meat department at the Cortland Sparkle Market for 25 years.

She was a faithful member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Cortland and actively participated in the Christian Family Movement and many church retreats.

She was a member of the Warren SCOPE for 21 years and enjoyed the Senior Follies as a singer, dancer, tap dancer, clown and an actor in many of the skits.

She was dearly loved by all her family and friends.

Margaret is survived by three children, the Rev. Thomas G. Ziegler of Canfield, Yvonne Omerzo of Cortland and Christopher Ziegler of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren, twins Scott (Brenda) Omerzo and Greg (Tracy) Omerzo, and Heather Campbell, all of Mecca, and Michelle Ziegler and Lori Ziegler, both of Florida; eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Corlene Ziegler of Florida; and brother, Patrick (Helen) Kearney of Niles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Ziegler, whom she married on Sept. 19, 1942, and who died on May 18, 1993; son, Jack Ziegler; son-in-law, Jim Omerzo; two sisters, Katherine Rostan and Helen Jobes; and four brothers, William, Joseph, Jack and David Kearney.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, where family and friends may call one hour prior to the Mass. The Rev. Thomas G. Ziegler will be the celebrant.

Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery.
