RAVENNA – Russell VanDyke, 71, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Altercare in Brimfield.
He was born on Aug.1, 1942, in Ravenna, the son of Harold Francis and Bernadine Lucille Boston VanDyke.
Russell was a truck driver for Chapman Excavation.
He was a member of the U.S. Air Force, Palmyra Methodist Church and Honor Guard in Deerfield.
Survivors include two sons, William VanDyke of Ravenna and Michael VanDyke of Munroe Falls; a sister, Polly Boitle of Anderson, S.C.; a brother, Allan VanDyke of Houston; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Joan Ann Cain, and a daughter, Shelly Renee VanDyke.
Calling hours will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. A noon masonic service will be held, followed by a funeral service.
Russell will be laid to rest in Palmyra West Cemetery.
