Robert J. Williams

HOWLAND – Robert J. Williams, 90, of Howland, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born March 28, 1924, in Warren, the son of the late John Seely Williams and Amanda Gerber Williams.

A graduate of Warren G. Harding class of 1942, Bob served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

He was a form grinder at Packard Electric for 22 years, retiring from there in 1986. Formerly, he had worked at Federal Machine & Welding Co. for 21 years.

Bob was a much-loved and faithful member of Calvary Bible Church. Prior to that he was a deacon at North Mar Church and an elder for many years at Calvary United Presbyterian Church.

His first allegiance was to his savior, Jesus Christ, then to his country and his family.

Bob enjoyed traveling and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Memories of Bob will be cherished by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Smead Williams; son, David (Ruth) Williams of Howland; and daughters, Cathy Williams of Orlando, Fla., and Donna Williams of Warren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor Rick Reynolds will officiate. Friends are kindly invited to visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
