Rev. Charles J. Benes

WILLIAMSFIELD – The Rev. Charles J. Benes, 81, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, at home with his family by his side.

He was born Dec. 29, 1932, in Cleveland, the son of Eleanor Jenks and Charles J. Benes.

He was a veteran of the Korean War.

He and his wife, Dorothy DeKnipp, operated Pilgrim Goose Hatchery in the Thompson / Leroy area, and they were co-pastors of The First Spiritualist Church of Ashtabula.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Trixye Case Lundstrom of Windsor; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Charlie was preceded death by a stepsister, Rose Marie.

A service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at the Paine Funeral Home Inc., Orwell, where calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Interment will follow at the Hayes Cemetery, Wayne Township, with military honors.
