Margaret S. Cox
AJIJIC, Mexico – Margaret Schiel Cox, 95, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, at her home in Mexico with her loving daughter Margaret at her side.
Margaret was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Warren, the fourth of five daughters born to Margaretha and Michael Schiel.
Margaret attended Warren City Schools and graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in January of 1937.
In October of 1938, she married R. Keeler Cox Sr. in Cleveland. She and Keeler were married for 60 years until his death in 1998. In 1967, they moved to Mexico City, later to El Paso, Texas, and ultimately to Ajijic, Mexico, for the past 24 years.
Margaret loved to play bridge, and in her career accumulated a significant number of Masterpoints.
She was very fond of classical music, traveling, and telling stories. She made a large circle of friends wherever they lived, and loved to host marvelous parties. She was a devout Christian, and political conservative.
She is survived by her three children, Ralph (Sue) of Warren; Richard (Irina) of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Margaret A. of Ajijic, Mexico; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two infant sons, Randall and Malcolm; and four sisters, Rose Schiel, Clara Safford, Gertrude Andersson and Louise Smith.
Cremation services were handled by Casa Funeral San Miguel in Guadalajara. Interment will be in the columbarium next to her husband in the garden of St. Andrews Anglican Church in Ajijic.
A private service in Mexico will be scheduled for a later date.
