Karen S. Filkorn
CHAMPION – Karen S. Filkorn, 66, of Champion, passed away unexpectedly at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at St. Joseph Health Center.
Karen was born April 16, 1948, in Warren, the daughter of Mary Chopko Filkorn and Edward Filkorn.
She was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and Trumbull Business College.
Karen retired after 25 years from Alcan Aluminum as an accounts receivable specialist.
She was a member of the Catholic faith.
Karen was a very giving, loving and generous woman, both of her time and talents. She was a Guardian Angel, member of the Sutliff Museum and a volunteer at Cortland SCOPE.
She loved to collect antiques and bird watch. She had a unique collection of bird feeders, which she maintained faithfully.
Karen loved all animals, especially Scottish Terriers, her miniature Schnauzer, Haley, and her Sheltie, Winston.
She organized the social calendar of the Alcan financial department retirees, scheduling quarterly luncheons. She loved to camp, and had many great memories of her 1973 Corvette T Top. Karen took pleasure in the simple things in life.
Karen is deeply loved and sadly missed by her brother, “Butch” Raymond Filkorn and wife, Paula; nieces, Sarah Filkorn and Katie (Phil) Bednar, and her companion of 25 years, Patricia Davis.
Material contributions in lieu of flowers can be made in Karen’s honor to Cortland SCOPE or the Trumbull County Animal Welfare League.
Carl W. Hall of Warren is handling the arrangements.
Calling hours are 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, and a service will follow at 6 p.m.
Cremation will take place.
