AUSTINTOWN – John Kohut, 91, died Friday afternoon, May 9, 2014, at his home.
John was born March 24, 1923, in Youngstown, the son of Samuel and Julia Cmy Kohut.
John served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Kohut retired from U.S. Steel as a millwright, and was a member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown.
Survivors include three children, Barbara Ann Kennedy of Coto De Caza, Calif., Mary Lynn Yacovone of Austintown, with whom he made his home, and John Michael Kohut of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Wengryn of Latrobe, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Susan Kohut; an infant son, John Kohut Jr.; a brother; and two sisters.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kinnick Funeral Home, Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, and continue at 10 a.m. with a Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Interment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
