Errol R. Gilbert

CORTLAND – Errol Robert Gilbert, 63, of Cortland, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

The son of William and the late Alice Miller Murray, he was born Sept. 2, 1950, in Warren.

On July 22, 1972, Errol married Linda Benson Gilbert, with whom he spent 41 wonderful years before his passing.

Errol was a graduate of Champion High School and was a foreman at Severstal Steel for 43 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War.

He attended North-Mar Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. Errol was an avid golfer and was a member of both his church and work golfing leagues; he also enjoyed bowling in his company’s bowling league. Errol also loved to watch the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Indians.

He leaves behind his wife, Linda Gilbert of Cortland; a son, Scott (Tiffany) Gilbert of Champion; and a daughter, Sandi (Tim) Bowell of Hubbard. Also surviving Errol are two brothers, Eric (Valerie) Gilbert of Perry, N.Y., and Bill Murray of Ocoee, Fla.; a sister, Sharon (Eric) Pritzker of Winter Gardens, Fla.; and eight grandchildren, Makayla, Scott Jr., Paige, Chloe, Mason, Luke, Liam and Lochlan.

He was preceded in death by his mother and an infant son, Jeffrey R. Gilbert.

A private family service will be held at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor James Nolte will officiate. Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations be made to the Food Pantry at North-Mar Church, 3855 E. Market St., Warren, OH 44484.
