Robert L. Miller
FREEDOM – Robert Lee Miller, 67, of Freedom, was born Feb. 2, 1947, in Warren, to William Warren and Elizabeth Schwartz Miller.
He went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, after a battle with leukemia.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 during the Vietnam War, and retired from Stouffer / Nestle Corp., where he worked for 32 years.
He was an avid sports spectator, and could be seen at many local school basketball, football and baseball events sitting on the top row, front and center. He really missed the games this past winter with his buddies.
He loved to run the trails of Portage County, ride his bike to town, walk the streets of town, and mow his friends’ and neighbors’ ditches.
Strong in his faith, he attended the Maplewood Christian Church until his sickness prohibited him from going. He loved and missed his church family, and spoke highly of them.
Robert “Bob” is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Deborah Cook Miller; daughter, Mary (Dean); son, Shawn (Anne); granddaughter, Ryanne; grandson, Gregory; four brothers; five sisters; and a whole lot of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
Friends may join the family for visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor John Hayduke officiating.
Interment will follow the service in Drakesburg Cemetery in Freedom Township.
A potluck gathering after the graveside service will be held at the Maplewood Christian Church, 7300 state Route 88, Ravenna.
