Robert L. Davies
MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS – Robert Lee Davies, 77, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014, at his home in Middleburg Heights.
The son of the late Robert and Kathryn Fagird Davies, Robert was born May 21, 1936, in Leavittsburg.
On Oct. 4, 1958, Robert married Edith Layfield Davies, with whom he spent 55 wonderful years of marriage.
He was a graduate of Leavittsburg High School and earned his BS in metallurgical engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
Robert worked at the NASA Lewis Research Center for 32 years and retired as manager of the Materials Evaluation Branch.
Robert was a member of Nasairs Flying Club at Cleveland Hopkins Airport, the Kiwanis Club, the NASA Shooting Club and a lifelong NRA member. He was also a certificated flight instructor and a charter member of the Middleburg Heights Auxillary Police.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Layfield Davies; and three sons, Robert J. (Mary) Davies of Middleburg Heights, Brian Davies of Cleveland and David (Laura) Davies; and a grandson, Morgan Davies of North Olmsted.
Robert also leaves behind his dear sister, Linda (Ronald) Versic; a brother, Rick (Denise) Davies; a sister, Sherry; a sister-in-law, Karen Davies; a nephew, Paul (Angela) Versic; a niece, Kathryn (Bret) Callentine; two great-nephews, Jozef Callentine and Charlie Versic; one great-niece, Emily Versic, as well as many other dear nieces and nephews.
Bob is also survived by brothers-in-law, John (Barbara) Layfield, Russel (Doris) Layfield, Ronald Layfield; and sister-in-law, Susan Layfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill Davies and James H. Davies; and a sister, Myrna Jean Davies, as well as his brothers-in-law Gilbert Layfield, William Layfield, Donald Layfield and Daniel Cope; and his two sisters-in-law Carolyn Layfield and Betty Cope.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor John H. Griffith will officiate.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Park, Warren.
